Tilt Versus Touch: Which Controls Win On Phone?
Every time I review a racing or arcade game, the controls question comes up. Tilt steering feels natural and immersive, but touch controls give you precision. Neither is universally better; it depends on the game.
For fast arcade racers with forgiving tracks, tilt can be a joy. It makes gentle steering effortless and keeps your thumbs off the screen. But the moment a game demands sharp, deliberate inputs, touch controls usually win.
My advice is to always try both and tune the sensitivity before you judge. Default tilt settings are often too twitchy, and a small adjustment can change everything. I've written off games on their controls only to fall in love after two minutes in the settings menu.
If a game only offers one option, that's worth noting in a review. Accessibility matters, and forcing tilt on players who can't hold a phone steady is a real problem.
